An around-the-world tour of language, culture, and play through the lens of pick-up soccer.

"Pick-up", unlike professional or league play, is an informal, public and self-defined version of sport. Without a referee to enforce internationally standardized rules, players create their own structure and style, which are influenced by their cultural and physical environment. Comparing three countries - Brazil, Thailand, and Nigeria - the film exposes fascinating contrasts. As diverse as these games are though, the most important feature of pick-up is universal; it's magical ability to bring people together.
